Friday Film Night for Adults
Friday, January 106:00—8:30 PMCommunity RoomMahopac Public Library668 Route 6, Mahopac, NY, 10541
Join us once a month for a more grown up, sophisticated film selection than the more general super-hero fare eating us all alive this past decade! Or maybe just something wild and fun!
This month's screening: Phantom Thread (2017, 131 minutes, R)
Look, I know what you're thinking. "Ugh, some boring Oscar bait movie where Daniel Day Lewis plays a tortured genius." Phantom Thread could not be further from that description. A deeply strange and spellbinding film, it is at once a riveting drama, a suspenseful thriller, and a deliriously dark romantic comedy. The film tracks the relationship between Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day Lewis), a very fussy and particular dressmaker, and Alma (Vicky Krieps), his new muse who refuses to be discarded like the many muses that came before her. With wonderful direction from Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Licorice Pizza) and a beautiful and hypnotic score from Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead, Phantom Thread is a film that will not leave your memory anytime soon, I promise you that.
This is an after-hours program for adults.
Bring your own food and drink (no alcohol) and/or enjoy some of our provided refreshments and snacks.
The library doors lock at 7 PM so we are required to stay on the third floor after closing time. If you need to leave early, approach Joe and he will escort you downstairs to the exit.
See you at the movies!
