CANCELED - Friday Film Night for Adults

Friday, May 226:00—8:30 PMCommunity RoomMahopac Public Library668 Route 6, Mahopac, NY, 10541

Join us once a month for a curated screening! It could be an old Hollywood classic, an international film, a modern trailblazer, or something completely different!

This month's screening: Citizen Kane (1941, 1hr 59 minutes, dir. Orson Welles)

You probably know Citizen Kane as the go-to film critic’s pick for “greatest movie of all time.” You probably think “It can’t really be that good.” What if I told you that it is? It is simply one of the most visually inventive, dramatically daring, and wildly entertaining movies of all time and has lost none of its luster in over eighty years. The story focuses on the recently deceased millionaire, Charles Foster Kane (played by Orson Welles), as a reporter tracks down those who knew him and begins to assemble a complicated and sometimes contradictory portrait of the larger than life individual. Who really was Kane? What made him tick? And what’s with his mysterious last word, “rosebud?”

This is an after-hours program for adults.

Bring your own food and drink (no alcohol) and/or enjoy some of our provided refreshments and snacks.

The library doors lock at 7 PM so we are required to stay on the third floor after closing time. If you need to leave early, approach Joe and he will escort you downstairs to the exit.

See you at the movies!
