Opera in Ebony

This talk will pay tribute to legendary African American singers who performed at prestigious venues like the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, and the Royal Opera House. Sound clips featuring Marian Anderson, Leontyne Price, Paul Robeson, and George Shirley will be included.

This talk is presented by Tanisha Mitchell.  Named a "Mover and Shaker" by Library Journal, Tanisha Mitchell is best known for her innovative work in the arts at the Metropolitan Opera and the Freeport Memorial Library.
 As a librarian, her curating and archival expertise in the Metropolitan Opera Music Library helped the institution discover rare, previously unknown treasures that reflect its performance history.
